Samsung Unveils Upgraded AI-Powered Food Platform at IFA 2024

Samsung Electronics has announced new features and updates for its personalized, AI-powered food and recipe platform, Samsung Food, in celebration of the platform’s first anniversary. These upgrades, which will be showcased at IFA 2024, aim to enhance the user experience by providing more personalized meal plans, recipe recommendations, and simplified food management.

Since its launch at IFA 2023, Samsung Food has gained over six million users, becoming an indispensable tool for meal planning and cooking. Its most popular features include the Recipe function, Shopping List, and Meal Planner. With the platform's latest upgrade, Samsung continues to innovate, incorporating AI technology to streamline the food preparation process and enhance wellness tracking.

Moohyung Lee, EVP and Head of the Customer Experience Team for Samsung’s Digital Appliances Business, stated, “As people look to get more out of their food with help from their appliances, we’re excited to upgrade Samsung Food with new powerful functionalities. With a key focus on user experience, we’ll continue to enhance the platform using AI and other technologies to support healthier and more convenient meal preparation.”

New Features and Vision AI Integration

Samsung Food+ is the platform’s premium subscription service, priced at $6.99 per month, which offers advanced features like customized health profiles, wellness goal tracking, and personalized meal plans. One of the key upgrades is the integration of Vision AI technology, allowing users to snap photos of food items with their smartphones and automatically add them to their Food List. This feature enhances the experience for users of Bespoke refrigerators with the Family Hub™ screen, simplifying food inventory management without relying solely on internal cameras.

Samsung Food+ also introduces a “Search with Your Food List” feature, which prioritizes recipes that can be made using ingredients already available in the user’s inventory. The platform will recommend recipes based on the Food List and will prompt users to add items to their Shopping List as needed, helping to reduce food waste and maintain fresh ingredients. Additionally, alerts are provided to remind users of upcoming expiration dates, ensuring ingredients are used in a timely manner.

Samsung’s latest upgrades reflect the brand’s commitment to merging technology with daily life to promote more efficient and sustainable cooking practices.
