Samsung Collaborates with IOC and OBS to Enhance Viewing Experience with Galaxy Fold Technology at the Games

In collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), Samsung Electronics is set to provide sports fans with an unprecedented viewing experience during the upcoming Games, utilizing its innovative Galaxy foldable technology.

The introduction of foldable phones by Samsung has revolutionized mobile technology. Unlike traditional smartphones, foldables feature a central hinge and dual displays that unfold to create a larger screen. This unique design, showcased in the Galaxy Z Fold series, has seen significant advancements in both hinge technology and device thickness, making the phones more portable and user-friendly.

Galaxy Fold Evolution: A Retrospective

  • Galaxy Fold (2019): Marking the dawn of foldable phones, the original Galaxy Fold featured an inward-folding hinge and a compact, portable design. With a folded thickness of 15.7-17.1mm and a weight of 276g, it introduced the concept of folding and unfolding, providing a natural big-screen experience.

  • Galaxy Z Fold2 (2020): The successor to the Galaxy Fold, the Z Fold2, introduced the Hideaway Hinge and Sweeper Technology. These innovations enabled various device angles for Flex Mode, improved stability, and enhanced dust protection.

  • Galaxy Z Fold3 (2021): This model tackled the challenge of waterproofing foldable phones, incorporating robust Armor Aluminum and Sweeper Technology, making it the first water-resistant foldable device.

  • Galaxy Z Fold4 (2022): The Z Fold4 featured a lighter, slimmer hinge design, shifting from rotary to linear motion, reducing the device's weight to 263g and its folded thickness to 15.8mm.

  • Galaxy Z Fold5 (2023): The latest in the series, the Z Fold5, introduced the Flex Hinge, allowing the display to fold without creases or gaps. This model is the thinnest and lightest yet, with a folded thickness of 13.4mm and a weight of 253g.

Each iteration of the Galaxy Fold series demonstrates Samsung's commitment to advancing foldable technology. From the robust engineering of the hinges to the sleek, portable designs, Samsung has continually refined its devices to enhance user experience.

Upcoming Innovations

Samsung's relentless innovation will be on display at Galaxy Unpacked on July 10 in Paris, where the next generation of Galaxy foldable technology will be unveiled. This event promises to showcase even more groundbreaking features that will continue to redefine mobile experiences.
