Salik Fee Exemption in Dubai: Eligibility, Application Process, and Key Details

Dubai residents who qualify for the Salik fee exemption can now apply for a waiver of toll charges under the People of Determination (PoD) exemption programme. The initiative, launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), aims to enhance accessibility and inclusivity while easing the financial burden on eligible residents and their families.

Who Can Apply for Salik Fee Exemption?

The Salik exemption is available for individuals facing:

  • Mental disabilities

  • Physical disabilities

  • Autism

  • Visual impairments

Eligibility for Relatives

First and second-degree relatives of a Person of Determination (PoD) can also apply for the exemption if they meet the following criteria:

  • Parents

  • Spouse (Marriage certificate required)

  • Children (Birth certificate required)

  • Grandparents

  • Siblings

  • Grandchildren

Required Documents for Salik Toll Waiver

To apply, the following documents must be submitted:
Vehicle registration card (PoD or eligible relative)
Valid Emirates ID (applicant)
People of Determination card (Ministry of Community Development) or Sanad card (Community Development Authority)
Proof of relationship (for relatives) – Must be sent to specialaccounts@salik.ae

How Long Does the Salik Fee Exemption Last?

The exemption is valid for one year and must be renewed annually with the same set of documents.

How to Apply for Salik Fee Exemption

Residents can apply online via the Salik website or by email.

Through Salik Website:

1️⃣ Enter required details and upload necessary documents.
2️⃣ The special accounts team verifies and processes the request.
3️⃣ Once approved, the customer is notified via phone.

Through Email:

1️⃣ Download the commitment form from the Salik website or request it via email.
2️⃣ Send the completed form and required documents to specialaccounts@salik.ae.
3️⃣ The request is verified and processed, and approval is communicated to the applicant.

Limitations and Processing Time

  • Only one vehicle can be exempted per eligible applicant.

  • Exemptions can be transferred to a new vehicle after canceling the previous exemption.

  • Processing time: Five working days (if all documents meet the criteria).

  • Service is free of charge.

Understanding Dubai’s Salik System

Salik is Dubai’s electronic toll system, which automatically deducts toll charges when vehicles pass through one of the ten Salik gates in the emirate. The system operates using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, ensuring seamless toll collection.

💰 Peak hours (Weekdays, 6 AM – 10 AM & 4 PM – 8 PM): Dh6
💰 Off-peak hours (10 AM – 4 PM & 8 PM – 1 AM): Dh4
💰 Sundays (Flat rate): Dh4 (Free from 1 AM – 6 AM)
