National Election Committee discussestechnical aspects of electoral process management
Abu Dhabi, March25 2015:As part of intensive preparatory meetings for the implementation of the Federal National Council elections, the National Election Committee (NEC) held its ninth meeting yesterday at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs in the presence of H.E. Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairman of the Committee. The meeting discussed as a top priority the executive instructions for the electoral process to guaranteethe highest standards and transparency in the upcoming elections.
The Committee also discussed the technical aspects ofthe electoral process management and public awareness initiatives for the elections. It also looked at the rules guiding the conduct of the elections on the one hand and their implementation and management on the other.
Stating that the Committee is preparing to manage the elections for the third time, H.E. Dr. Anwar Gargash said all steps have been taken to ensure that the best standards and regulatory procedures are upheld during the electoral process. The Committee will work on the implementation of the electoral process in line with the leadership vision to promote political participation and enhance the representation and effectiveness of the Federal National Council, H.E. Dr. Gargash said.
The Minister commended the members of the Committee for their in-depth discussions that contributed to the preparations for the adoption of the executive instructions as well as the technical and media and marketing plans.
The NEC discussed the media strategy to achieve the best possible means of communication with members of the UAE society to make information on the electoral process available to everyone through newspapers, radio and social media channels.
