Kutubna Cultural Center Launches Immersive Program to Explore Emirati Culture
The Kutubna Cultural Center, Dubai’s newest independent bookstore and cultural hub, is set to unveil “A Journey Through the Five Senses: Exploring Emirati Culture.” This innovative program invites participants to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of the UAE through hands-on, multisensory experiences. Scheduled to run from November 21 to December 19, 2024, the program aims to connect locals and expats alike with the essence of Emirati traditions.
The initiative incorporates five distinct sessions, each focusing on one of the senses: touch, sound, taste, sight, and smell. These curated sessions engage participants through storytelling, live demonstrations, and visual narratives, offering a dynamic exploration of Emirati culture. Led by esteemed experts, the program highlights key cultural elements such as Arabic coffee, music, fragrance, and more.

Touch: The Timeless Craft of Theatre – November 21, 7:30 PM
Theatre expert and award-winning playwright Naji Al Hai will delve into the traditions of Emirati theater. Through an engaging session, Al Hai will share untold stories and the emotional depth of Emirati folklore, providing participants with a deeper understanding of this art form.

Sound: The Voices of UAE – November 28, 7:30 PM
Graphic design instructor and music enthusiast Al Anood Bukhammas will guide attendees through the soundscapes of the UAE. Her unique approach blends music and visual design, offering a fresh perspective on Emirati musical traditions.

Taste: The Art of Hospitality – December 5, 7:30 PM
Arabic coffee expert Medina Ilyas will explore the heritage and cultural significance of Arabic coffee. Through storytelling and hands-on demonstrations, participants will gain insights into the techniques and traditions that make this beverage a symbol of Arab hospitality.

Sight: Capturing the Beauty of UAE – December 12, 7:30 PM
Emirati photographer and designer Hussain AlMoosawi will present his visual journey through the UAE’s architectural landscape. His session reflects on urban identities and the evolving cultural narratives that shape the nation’s story.

Smell: The Art of Fragrance – December 19, 7:30 PM
Bukhoor expert Mike Metzger will lead a hands-on workshop on the significance of Emirati fragrances. Participants will learn to mix their own bukhoor blends while discovering the traditions and cultural depth behind these iconic scents.
