ME&CA Final of Huawei Seeds for the Future 2024 Kicks Off in Uzbekistan
The Middle East and Central Asia (ME&CA) final of Huawei's prestigious global CSR program, Seeds for the Future, has officially commenced in Uzbekistan. This year’s event brings together 150 students and 14 teachers from 14 countries across the region, marking a significant moment in the development of ICT talent and global digital inclusion.
The program, hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, IT Education Association, and other key industry bodies, aims to nurture the next generation of ICT leaders. The opening ceremony, held at the Ministry of Digital Technologies, featured addresses from senior government officials and industry leaders, highlighting the event’s importance in fostering collaboration and enhancing knowledge in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
HE Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, welcomed the participants, emphasizing the significance of global collaboration in ICT. “The launch of Seeds for the Future today is one of the greatest steps towards the expansion of global collaboration in the ICT field. We are glad to have a partner like Huawei that understands the need for nurturing digital talents and creating an advanced platform for building a digital and green world,” he said.
Shunli Wang, Vice President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, expressed excitement over the program's regional launch, stating, "We are thrilled to host the 2024 regional Seeds for the Future initiative and look forward to seeing regional ICT talents in action. Public-private collaboration is crucial for building the ICT ecosystem and nurturing ICT talent. Embrace this opportunity, challenge yourselves, and let your creativity shine."
The week-long event will feature intensive training sessions, workshops on cutting-edge ICT technologies such as 5G, AI, and cloud computing, as well as discussions on global project topics. Participants will also engage in cultural activities, including a "Global Village" event at Amity University of Tashkent, where teams presented their countries' cultural heritage.
A key highlight of the event is the regional semifinal of the Tech4Good competition, where students will present innovative projects aimed at addressing social issues using the latest ICT technologies. Two outstanding teams will advance to the Global Finals in China next year.
