Majra Hosts National Sustainability Strategy Workshop to Propel UAE’s Vision for Private Sector Engagement

The National CSR Fund – Majra – recently organized the National Sustainability Strategy Workshop, a pioneering initiative aimed at developing a unified sustainability roadmap for the UAE’s private sector. Bringing together leaders from federal and local governments, corporations, and non-profit organizations, the workshop marked a significant step toward aligning private sector sustainability practices with the UAE’s national vision.

The workshop reflects the country’s commitment to inclusive policymaking, ensuring that all key stakeholders contribute to shaping a sustainability strategy consistent with the forward-looking aspirations of the UAE’s leadership.

H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Majra, emphasized the strategic importance of sustainability, stating:

“Sustainability is no longer a distant goal, but a strategic imperative driving diverse sectors. This workshop plays a vital role in uniting stakeholders to create an ‘impact economy’—one that integrates economic ambition with corporate citizenship, transparency, and community responsibility. Collaborative co-design is crucial to ensuring a strong and actionable final strategy.”

Sarah Shaw, CEO of Majra, highlighted the inclusive and future-oriented nature of the event, saying:

“The workshop brought together influential thought leaders from various industries to develop a visionary yet practical strategy. By integrating economic, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals under one national framework, we are laying the foundation for sustainable impact. The inclusion of strategic objectives and KPIs will allow us to track progress effectively and ensure alignment with federal and local priorities.”

The high-level and interactive workshop followed a comprehensive structure, covering key elements such as sustainability principles, vision formulation, strategic framework development, and current state assessments. It concluded with a session summarizing key outcomes and defining future actions.

Participants were divided into sector-specific working groups to ensure dynamic collaboration and cross-industry insights. This format encouraged open dialogue and collective ownership of outcomes, paving the way for a more resilient, inclusive, and transparent sustainability strategy for the UAE.
