Lockheed Martin Marks 50 Years of UAE Partnership at IDEX 2025 with Advanced Defense Innovations
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is celebrating 50 years of collaboration with the UAE at the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) 2025, taking place from February 17–21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The milestone underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to regional security, advanced defense technology, and fostering local talent.
The partnership began in 1975 with the delivery of the first C-130 Hercules airlifter to the Abu Dhabi Defense Force and has since evolved into a strategic collaboration that supports the UAE’s defense ecosystem. Speaking on the occasion, Gen. John Nicholson (U.S. Army, Ret.), chief executive of Lockheed Martin Middle East, emphasized the significance of this enduring relationship.
“Celebrating 50 years of partnership with the UAE is a proud moment for Lockheed Martin, demonstrating how our long-standing collaboration continues to strengthen regional security, develop local talent, and help our partners navigate evolving challenges with confidence and capability,” Nicholson said. “IDEX provides a world-class platform to showcase our commitment to advanced defense technologies, innovation, and the transformative role of AI in modern security.”
At IDEX 2025, Lockheed Martin will present its latest innovations spanning land, air, sea, and space domains. Featured exhibits will include next-generation fighter jets, state-of-the-art helicopters, advanced air and missile defense systems, and sophisticated command-and-control platforms. These solutions aim to enhance interoperability and defense readiness while fostering collaboration for a secure and prosperous future.
The company will also spotlight projects developed by Emirati interns at its Center for Innovation and Security Solutions (CISS) in Masdar City. Over the years, CISS has trained hundreds of UAE students in robotics, artificial intelligence, networked systems, and simulation technologies, contributing to workforce development and the UAE’s growing aerospace and defense sector.
Lockheed Martin is further reinforcing its strategic engagement by serving as a gold sponsor of the International Defense Conference (IDC) on February 16, 2025. Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control division, will participate in a panel discussion titled “Global Disruptions and Defense Preparedness: Mitigating Threats to Critical Supply Chains.” The discussion will address key challenges in global security and the role of advanced defense systems in safeguarding critical infrastructure.
Marking five decades of collaboration, Lockheed Martin remains committed to innovation, knowledge sharing, and supporting the UAE’s defense ambitions. The company continues to invest in AI-driven security solutions, industrial partnerships, and talent development, ensuring its contributions to regional stability and global defense preparedness.
