The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a public advisory urging residents across the UAE to take precautionary measures amid dusty weather conditions, while also reminding the public to rely only on official sources for weather updates.

The advisory follows a yellow dust alert issued on December 28, which remained in effect from 1:20 pm to 6:00 pm, affecting several areas of the country. The NCM warned that dust and sand particles could reduce visibility, posing risks for both drivers and pedestrians.

Safety measures for residents

In its statement, the NCM outlined key precautions to help residents protect themselves and their property during dust storms:

• Avoid direct exposure to dust and suspended particles.

• Exercise caution while driving, and adhere strictly to traffic safety rules.

• Keep doors and windows closed to prevent dust from entering homes and buildings.

• Follow official weather reports and alerts from the NCM through verified channels.

The authority also emphasized the importance of avoiding the spread of unverified information or rumours during weather disturbances, urging residents to rely solely on updates issued by the NCM and other official entities.

According to the latest NCM forecast, the weather on Monday, December 29, is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of rain over some coastal, northern, and eastern areas. The presence of convective clouds — often associated with rainfall — may lead to light precipitation in select regions.

The NCM continues to monitor weather patterns closely and encourages residents to remain cautious, especially when driving in low-visibility or windy conditions.
