HIMA appoints Carl Ramsden as CEO of Sella Controls
The HIMA Group has announced the appointment of Carl Ramsden as Chief Executive Officer of Sella Controls – A HIMA Company – effective October 1, 2025. The newly created role marks a significant step in strengthening the integration of the UK-based company into the HIMA Group.
Ramsden brings more than two decades of international leadership and financial expertise in the industrial and technology sectors. His career includes senior positions in both chemical and automation industries, where he worked across manufacturing and end-customer operations, providing him with a comprehensive perspective on the industrial value chain.
As CEO, Ramsden will assume overall responsibility for Sella Controls, working alongside Chris Parr (CTO) and Eddy Turnock (CSO). He will also take on the responsibilities previously held by John Blackwell, who will retire as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on October 31, 2025, after many years of service.
Commenting on the appointment, Jörg de la Motte, CEO of HIMA Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Carl Ramsden, an experienced and strategic manager, into this important position. With his expertise and clear, value-driven leadership style, he will accelerate our growth in the process and rail industries in the UK and Ireland while helping to expand our global presence as a solutions provider.”
Sella Controls was acquired by HIMA in February 2023 after a long-standing partnership. Since then, the integration has advanced rapidly, with central IT and management systems successfully harmonized. Today, Sella Controls operates as the Group’s regional centre for the UK and Ireland, and as the global centre of excellence for railway activities. The company employs more than 130 staff across its Stockport and Ashby sites.
The appointment of Ramsden underscores HIMA’s commitment to strengthening its UK and Ireland operations while leveraging Sella Controls’ expertise in railway solutions to support international growth.
