Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation Students Shine in Cambridge University Program
Students from the Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, part of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, have achieved remarkable success in the Pre-University Program at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge. The program, held from July 27 to August 9, 2025, brought together over 250 students from 15 countries, showcasing the capability of Emirati students to excel in world-class academic environments.
Participants from the Centre earned certificates of excellence in fields including engineering, physics, cybersecurity, and nuclear energy, highlighting their advanced research and innovative thinking.
Dr. Mariam Al Ghawi, Director of the Hamdan Centre for Giftedness and Innovation, praised the students’ achievements, noting that they reflect a clear vision for nurturing talent and refining research skills.
“We are proud of the exceptional performance of our students, which reaffirms their ability to innovate and excel in the most distinguished global academic settings,” said Dr. Al Ghawi. “Their participation at Cambridge reflects the quality of academic preparation we provide and their capacity to present research characterized by depth and innovation.”

Best Overall Student: Humaid Al Hooli was recognized as Best Overall Student across all program cohorts for his Mechanical and Electrical Engineering research on the Chernobyl disaster. His work examined historical context, technical causes, and global safety reforms, contributing to safer nuclear power plant operations.

First Place in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering: Khalid Al Emadi focused on advanced AI applications in aviation, developing concepts for real-time aircraft data analysis to enhance predictive maintenance, improve air traffic monitoring, and increase safety standards.

First Place in Physics: Hanadi Darwish explored antimatter, studying its theoretical formation, potential industrial-scale production, storage challenges, and future applications in energy and medicine.

Cybersecurity and Computer Science Research: Sayed Mansour Al Hashemi presented an in-depth study on password security, identifying vulnerabilities in traditional authentication systems and proposing advanced encryption methods and multi-factor authentication to counter evolving cyber threats.
