Dubai Esports & Gaming Festival Education Summit Showcases Career Opportunities in Gaming Industry
The inaugural Education & Gaming Summit, held as part of the Dubai Esports & Gaming Festival (DEF) 2026, brought together students, graduates, industry leaders, and academic institutions to explore the rapidly growing gaming sector and the career opportunities emerging across the industry.
The one-day event welcomed students aged 16 and above from across the UAE, providing them with valuable insights into Dubai’s expanding gaming ecosystem and its increasing influence on the global gaming landscape. The summit highlighted the emirate’s commitment to developing a thriving gaming industry while creating pathways for young talent to enter the sector.
Participants had the opportunity to network with industry experts, recruiters, and professionals through the dedicated “Mix and Match” networking platform, designed to connect aspiring gaming professionals with employers and industry stakeholders. The summit also featured CV clinics, internship opportunities, and guidance on the skills and qualifications required to build successful careers in gaming and esports.
Students attending the event praised the initiative for providing direct access to recruiters and industry professionals. John David, a student at Metaverse Training Age Institution, said the summit offered valuable networking opportunities that would support his future career prospects in the gaming industry.
The event featured a series of practical workshops focused on emerging technologies and industry trends, including sessions on artificial intelligence in game development and interactive game design experiences. Attendees also benefited from expert-led panel discussions featuring representatives from leading organizations including DMCC, Pixel Perfect MENA, Bandai Namco, Tencent’s Level Infinite, and TikTok LIVE.
Academic leaders highlighted the growing importance of gaming education in preparing students for careers in one of the world’s fastest-growing creative industries. Speakers from the American University in Dubai, the University of Wollongong in Dubai, and SAE University College Dubai emphasized the role of specialized educational programs in developing future game designers, developers, esports professionals, and digital creators.
The summit also reinforced Dubai’s position as a regional hub for gaming innovation and talent development, supporting the city’s broader ambitions to become a leading global destination for gaming and esports.
As part of the wider festival activities, the du Main Arena at GameExpo will host collegiate Valorant competitions, where top university teams from across the UAE will compete in front of gaming enthusiasts and industry professionals.
The Education & Gaming Summit forms part of the Dubai Esports & Games Festival 2026, running from May 22 to June 7. The festival’s flagship event, GameExpo, continues at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offering visitors a range of gaming experiences, tournaments, exhibitions, and entertainment activities.
