Sharjah Islamic Bank, University of Sharjah Partner to Advance Financial Literacy and Develop National Talent

Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) and University of Sharjah (UoS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in financial literacy, professional development, practical training, talent acquisition, and student readiness for the workforce.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the two institutions, bridging academic education with practical industry experience while supporting initiatives that create long-term value for students, graduates, and the wider community.

The partnership represents the first phase of a broader initiative launched by Sharjah Islamic Bank to enhance collaboration with universities and higher education institutions across the UAE. The initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to investing in Emirati talent, promoting financial awareness, and supporting the development of a future-ready workforce equipped to meet the demands of an evolving economy.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mohamed Abdalla and Prof. Esameldin Agamy. The MoU was signed by Yaqoub Amir and Shihab Alhammadi.

Commenting on the partnership, Mohamed Abdalla said the agreement reflects Sharjah Islamic Bank’s commitment to empowering future generations through education and professional development.

“This partnership with the University of Sharjah reflects Sharjah Islamic Bank’s commitment to developing national talent and equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the future. Building strong connections between academic learning and practical application is essential to preparing qualified professionals capable of adapting to the rapid transformations within the banking and financial sector,” he said.

He added that the agreement marks the beginning of a wider strategy to expand collaboration with educational institutions across the UAE, while promoting financial literacy and creating new opportunities for training, career development, and talent recruitment.

Prof. Agamy said the partnership aligns with the vision of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi to prepare national talent in line with the evolving requirements of the labor market.

“This agreement supports the University of Sharjah’s mission to graduate students equipped with both academic knowledge and practical expertise. Our collaboration with Sharjah Islamic Bank creates meaningful opportunities for students and graduates to access training, professional development, and employment pathways within the banking and financial sector,” he said.

Internship and Career Development Opportunities

Under the agreement, both parties will work together to develop internship and field training programs, participate in career fairs, and implement graduate development and talent acquisition initiatives.

The collaboration aims to enhance students’ readiness for employment while expanding access to practical learning experiences and professional growth opportunities.

In addition, Sharjah Islamic Bank and the University of Sharjah will organize lectures, workshops, awareness campaigns, and training programs focused on financial literacy, banking awareness, and consumer protection.

The two institutions will also explore initiatives designed to strengthen students’ future skills and career development prospects, while evaluating opportunities to provide banking products and services tailored to the needs of students, academic staff, and university employees in line with approved policies and procedures.

The partnership supports Sharjah Islamic Bank’s broader commitment to social responsibility and human capital development by fostering stronger integration between academic knowledge and professional practice, while contributing to the creation of a more informed and future-ready society.
