Repton Al Barsha Celebrates Graduation of Inaugural A-Level Cohort
Repton Al Barsha has celebrated the graduation of its first-ever A-Level cohort, marking a significant milestone in the school's academic journey. The inaugural Year 13 class, comprising 27 students, has secured admissions and scholarships at some of the world's leading universities across the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.
The graduation ceremony, held on May 23 at Raffles The Palm Dubai, brought together students, parents, faculty members, and distinguished guests, including Mrs. Chandini Misra, Principal of Repton Al Barsha, Glen Radojkovich, Managing Director of Cognita UAE, and Johnny Croall, School Improvement Partner for Cognita UAE.
Students Secure Places at Top Global Universities
As the pioneering Sixth Form cohort, the graduates have achieved impressive academic outcomes, receiving offers from prestigious institutions such as University College London, King’s College London, and Durham University, among others. Their accomplishments reflect both the strength of the school's academic programme and the dedication of its students.
The cohort's achievements are particularly notable given the academic challenges faced by students across the UAE and the wider region during the past year. Despite uncertainty, students demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a strong sense of community throughout their studies.
Outstanding Individual Achievements
Several students received recognition for exceptional academic and leadership accomplishments.
Haniya Mirza, Principal’s Prefect, secured offers to study Biomedical Engineering at prestigious institutions including Imperial College London, King’s College London, Durham University, University of Sheffield, and Queen Mary University of London.
Aarushi Das, Deputy Head Girl, received offers from Durham University, University of Bristol, Newcastle University, University of Leeds, and University of Birmingham, and plans to pursue a career in Engineering with a focus on Aerospace Engineering.
Laila El Rafey, Head Girl, secured admission to the University of Waterloo in Canada to study Kinesiology and was awarded a President’s Scholarship, alongside offers from York University and the University of Toronto. Meanwhile, Iasonas Romanos, Head Boy, earned admission to New York University to study Civil Engineering.
Among the cohort's standout achievements, Sophia Takey, Principal’s Prefect, achieved a perfect score of 100 UMS in Pure Mathematics 1 and secured the highly competitive Lester B. Pearson Scholarship at the University of Toronto. Additionally, Ismail Al Rantisi, Deputy Head Boy, received the prestigious BSME Ed Goodwin Award for Exceptional Service.
School Leadership Commends Students
Principal Mrs. Chandini Misra praised the graduates for their academic success and personal growth, highlighting their role in shaping the culture and identity of Repton Al Barsha’s Sixth Form. She noted that the students had demonstrated curiosity, integrity, determination, and leadership throughout their time at the school.
Janice Williams, Head of Sixth Form and Careers University Guidance Counsellor, commended the students for their resilience and adaptability, emphasizing how they successfully navigated challenges while remaining focused on their goals.
