Alef Education Completes Major Migration to Microsoft Azure, Strengthening AI-Powered Learning Worldwide

Alef Education, a UAE-based global education technology leader, has successfully completed the full migration of its digital learning ecosystem to Microsoft Azure, supported by Core42’s sovereign cloud capabilities. The milestone marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to deliver secure, scalable, and AI-powered education solutions to millions of learners worldwide.

The migration enhances Alef Education’s ability to provide advanced digital learning experiences while strengthening data security, operational resilience, and cloud scalability. The initiative also reinforces the company’s strategic partnerships with Microsoft and Core42, supporting the UAE’s ambition to become a global hub for trusted digital innovation and artificial intelligence.

By operating entirely on Microsoft Azure’s cloud infrastructure, enhanced with Core42’s sovereign controls platform, Insight, Alef Education is better positioned to scale its AI-driven learning solutions for government institutions and private education providers. The platform currently supports more than 2 million students, 84,000 teachers, and 19,000 schools globally.

Strengthening AI-Powered Education

The migration is expected to significantly improve the performance, intelligence, and scalability of Alef Education’s learning ecosystem, enabling the company to further expand its reach across international markets.

The move also strengthens commercial collaboration opportunities between Alef Education, Microsoft, and Core42 across cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and education technology sectors.

In addition, Alef Education has been officially recognized as a verified partner of Microsoft, providing the company with expanded go-to-market opportunities through Microsoft’s global ecosystem.

Amjad Khan, Chief Technology Officer of Alef Education, described the migration as one of the company’s most significant technology transformations to date.

“Completing this migration is a defining moment for Alef Education and reflects both our ambition and the strength of our partnerships with Microsoft and Core42. With our entire platform now operating on Microsoft Azure, we are better positioned than ever to deliver AI-powered education at scale for learners across the UAE and beyond,” he said.

Advancing Personalized Learning Through AI

According to Microsoft, the migration will help accelerate the adoption of intelligent and personalized learning experiences while maintaining high standards of security and reliability.

Yvonne Chebib, Health & Public Sector Lead at Microsoft UAE, said artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities to make education more engaging, effective, and personalized for students and educators alike.

She noted that Azure’s cloud infrastructure enables Alef Education to scale intelligent learning solutions securely while helping teachers gain deeper insights into student performance and better support diverse learning needs.

Microsoft added that AI-powered education technologies can play a vital role in preparing students with the digital skills required for the future workforce.

Secure and Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure

Core42 emphasized the importance of sovereign cloud capabilities in supporting critical sectors such as education.

Sherif Tawfik, Chief Business Officer at Core42, said the migration demonstrates how AI-powered services can scale while maintaining the governance, resilience, and data control required by educational institutions and public sector organizations.

He highlighted that trusted cloud architecture has become increasingly important as digital learning platforms serve millions of students and educators, ensuring performance, security, and long-term sustainability.

Two-Year Transformation Project

The migration project was completed over two years, including one year dedicated to planning and another year focused on implementation.

The initiative covered 14 technology environments and involved 165 specialists from Alef Education, Microsoft, Core42, and technology consultancy Xebia.

The successful completion of the project underscores Alef Education’s commitment to building secure, scalable, and AI-enabled learning experiences that equip students with the skills required for the future of education and work.

As demand for digital learning and artificial intelligence continues to grow globally, the migration positions Alef Education to accelerate innovation while maintaining the highest standards of security, governance, and educational impact.
