Guardian and Janus Henderson Finalize Strategic Partnership, Managing $45 Billion Fixed Income Portfolio
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (“Guardian”), one of the largest life insurers in the United States, and global asset manager Janus Henderson Group plc (NYSE: JHG) have officially completed their previously announced strategic partnership, marking a major milestone in institutional investment collaboration.
Under the agreement, Janus Henderson will manage Guardian’s $45 billion investment-grade public fixed income portfolio as part of its general account. This move positions Janus Henderson as Guardian’s dedicated fixed income asset manager and deepens both firms’ presence in the global institutional investment space.
In addition to portfolio management responsibilities, Guardian will receive equity warrants and additional economic consideration, highlighting the alignment of long-term interests between the two organizations. The deal also includes a commitment of up to $400 million in seed capital from Guardian to support fixed income product innovation at Janus Henderson.
Furthermore, both companies will co-develop proprietary multi-asset solution model portfolios for Guardian’s dually registered broker-dealer and registered investment advisor, Park Avenue Securities (PAS). These model portfolios are expected to enhance the investment offerings available to Guardian’s clients, improving wealth management services across its advisory platform.
