Emirates NBD and Siemens Partner to Accelerate Green Infrastructure Financing in the UAE

Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the MENAT region, has announced a strategic partnership with Siemens, a global technology leader, to support large-scale green infrastructure development in the UAE. The collaboration aims to promote the country’s sustainability objectives, in alignment with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative.

The agreement represents a groundbreaking fusion of banking and industrial expertise, designed to fast-track the financing and deployment of environmentally sustainable infrastructure. The deal supports national decarbonisation efforts by creating a replicable financing model that merges credit solutions with advanced green technologies.

Under the partnership, Emirates NBD led the development of the credit and operational structure of the agreement, crafting an innovative suite of financing tools tailored to meet the needs of long-term sustainability projects. These tools will fund every phase of green infrastructure implementation—from installation to lifecycle maintenance—supporting decarbonisation and efficiency goals.

Siemens, renowned for its role in modernising over 5,200 buildings globally with energy-efficient solutions, brings its deep expertise in sustainable infrastructure and clean technology to the collaboration. To date, Siemens’ projects have generated over EUR 1 billion in energy cost savings and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 10 million tons. The company continues to play a key role in advancing the UAE’s green agenda through the deployment of smart infrastructure solutions.

Ahmed Al Qassim, Group Head of Wholesale Banking at Emirates NBD, highlighted the bank’s long-term commitment to ESG principles:

“Our collaboration with Siemens is a powerful example of Emirates NBD’s drive to contribute meaningfully to the UAE’s decarbonisation goals. By supporting global partners in the deployment of energy-efficient and sustainable technologies, we aim to become the financing partner of choice for transformational infrastructure projects.”

Al Qassim emphasized the importance of trust and transparency in financial solutions, adding that the partnership reflects a shared ESG vision between both institutions and a desire to unlock new opportunities in the sustainable finance ecosystem.

Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens in the UAE, underlined the urgency of climate action and the importance of partnerships in achieving impact:

The Emirates NBD-Siemens partnership not only marks a key step toward achieving national sustainability milestones but also sets a benchmark for future collaborations between financial institutions and global technology providers. With scalable solutions and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, both organisations aim to accelerate the UAE’s transformation into a low-carbon economy.
