EDGE and Leonardo Forge Strategic Collaboration to Advance Aerospace and Defence Capabilities

EDGE, a leading global advanced technology and defence group, has signed a landmark collaboration agreement with Leonardo, a major international industrial player in aerospace, defence, and security. The agreement, formalized at the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi, aims to strengthen their partnership in developing cutting-edge solutions across six critical domains.

This strategic framework not only reinforces EDGE and Leonardo’s presence in the UAE market but also supports a global export strategy. The collaboration will enhance synergies, facilitate knowledge exchange, and optimize specialized resources to capitalize on emerging opportunities in key areas, including airborne capabilities such as radar for multi-mission aircraft, anti-tactical ballistic missile defence, counter-drone and mobile surveillance systems, naval combat management systems, radio communications, and optronics commander sight technologies.

Hamad Al Marar, EDGE Group Managing Director & CEO, highlighted the importance of the agreement, stating: “This milestone strengthens our existing partnership with Leonardo, leveraging the strong relationship between the UAE and Italy. It aligns with our commitment to sustainable security solutions, fostering economic growth, innovation, and excellence through mutually beneficial collaborations.”

The agreement sets the stage for a structured partnership aimed at jointly marketing these advanced technologies to governments worldwide. Additionally, it commits both companies to the development of shared intellectual property (IP) and future design innovations, ensuring the creation of pioneering defence and security solutions.

Lorenzo Mariani, Co-General Manager of Leonardo, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating: “We are honoured to join forces with EDGE Group to establish new industrial capabilities that cater to national and international defence needs. The evolving market landscape demands innovative solutions, and this partnership positions us to deliver the advanced technologies required by the UAE and other global markets.”

This strategic agreement is a crucial step in diversifying and expanding both EDGE and Leonardo’s portfolios, further strengthening their capabilities in designing complex and disruptive systems across airborne, terrestrial, naval, and cyber domains.
