Dubai Culture Signs MoU with Dubai Police and Dubai Customs to Safeguard Archaeological Assets

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Police and Dubai Customs, aimed at strengthening cooperation in preserving and safeguarding Dubai’s archaeological assets. The agreement reflects the commitment of all parties to enhance Dubai's position as a global tourist destination by sharing expertise and experiences in protecting the emirate’s antiquities.

The MoU was signed in the presence of H.E. Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, H.E. Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Ketbi, Director of the Organized Crime Department at Dubai Police. The agreement establishes efficient communication channels between the three entities to ensure swift responses to reports on archaeological matters and improve processes through technology and digitization.

Muna Faisal Al Gurg, CEO of the Culture and Heritage Sector at Dubai Culture, highlighted the importance of the partnership in enhancing the management of Dubai’s archaeological sites, stating, “Archaeological sites are key markers of Dubai’s rich history. This MoU allows us to raise public awareness, document excavation areas, and create a shared database to protect these valuable assets, reinforcing Dubai’s position on the global heritage map.”

Brigadier General Harib Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, emphasized the collaboration's role in safeguarding Dubai’s cultural identity and historical legacy. Mansoor Al Malik, Executive Director of the Policies and Legislation Division at Dubai Customs, further stressed the significance of the partnership in managing and protecting historical artifacts, aligning with Dubai's ambition to become a leading cultural hub.

Through this MoU, Dubai Culture, Dubai Police, and Dubai Customs will enhance knowledge sharing, co-develop digital solutions, and implement specialized training programs, ensuring the preservation of Dubai’s archaeological and cultural treasures.
