Asian Paints Unveils CureAssure: A Breakthrough in Concrete Curing Technology Promising Massive Water Savings in the UAE

Asian Paints, a leading name in construction solutions across Asia, has introduced CureAssure, the world’s first internal curing concrete additive. This patented innovation is set to transform the concrete curing process, with the potential to save up to eight billion litres of water annually in the UAE — equivalent to filling 3,200 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Designed specifically for the UAE’s extreme climate and stringent sustainability targets, CureAssure addresses long-standing challenges in construction by eliminating the need for traditional external water curing. Instead, it enables continuous hydration from within the concrete mix, ensuring consistent strength development and durability while significantly reducing water usage and carbon emissions.

“With CureAssure, we’re not just launching a product; we’re redefining a foundational step in construction,” said Mr. Joseph Eapen, CEO of Asian Paints. “This innovation reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions that work in the real world.”

Transforming a Critical Process in Concrete Construction

Concrete curing is vital to ensuring structural integrity but is often compromised by site-specific challenges such as extreme weather conditions, limited timelines, and reliance on labour. Improper curing can lead to shrinkage cracks and weakened structures.

CureAssure changes this paradigm by embedding hydration technology directly into the mix. It removes the need for surface water curing or compounds, significantly reducing plastic shrinkage and cracking while improving long-term performance. Site-level concrete results now align with lab expectations, delivering greater reliability and predictability.

“Rather than treating symptoms on the surface, we focused on solving the root cause,” said Mr. Amit DasGupta, Chief Senior Manager - Technology at AP Global. “By embedding water where it’s needed most, we enable stronger, more resilient structures regardless of the external environment.”

Regionally Approved, Globally Validated

CureAssure has received approval from Dubai Municipality and validation from ICC-ES, confirming its safety and compatibility with all standard construction practices. It works seamlessly with Portland cement, pozzolanic materials, and various admixtures.

Moreover, the additive complies with globally recognised standards, including:

  • ACI 308 (Internal Curing Guidelines)

  • ACI 318 (Structural Durability Provisions)

  • ASTM C494/C494M Type S (Admixture Standards)

  • EN 934-2 (European Compatibility Standards)

Advancing Sustainability in the UAE’s Construction Sector

CureAssure supports the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036 by removing the need for desalinated water during curing. This step not only conserves vital water resources but also supports zero-waste and low-carbon construction practices. Its adoption could irrigate 6,000+ acres of land or provide water for 450,000 households each month.

In addition to environmental benefits, CureAssure minimizes curing-related manpower, transport logistics, and emissions—while enhancing durability and lifecycle performance.

Asian Paints Strengthens Regional Innovation Legacy

With over 80 years of innovation, 150+ patents, and operations in 15 countries, Asian Paints continues to lead in coatings and construction technologies. CureAssure marks a significant expansion of the company's presence in the Middle East, underscoring its commitment to building smarter, safer, and more sustainable infrastructure across the GCC.
