Dubai Culture Invites Calligraphy Enthusiasts to Participate in Arabic Calligraphy, Ornamentation, and Gilding Project
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is inviting calligraphy enthusiasts to participate in its Arabic Calligraphy, Ornamentation, and Gilding project this June. The initiative offers a variety of workshops designed to support and inspire emerging talent, enabling participants to learn Arabic calligraphy techniques, enhance their skills, and create calligraphy-inspired artworks. This project aims to preserve the art form and strengthen its presence in Dubai’s cultural and artistic landscape.
Taking place at the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children from June 4 to 30 on weekends, the program includes specialized courses in Ruq'ah, Thuluth, and Naskh scripts, as well as the arts of ornamentation and gilding. These courses will be taught by a group of renowned experts in Arabic calligraphy, including Abdul Razzaq Al Mahmoud, Musab Doori, and Zaid Al Athamy.
Additionally, the project, part of the broader Dubai Calligraphy Biennale, will host a series of cultural sessions for senior citizens at the Thukher Social Club. These sessions aim to engage older generations in the preservation and celebration of Arabic calligraphy and its associated arts.
Participants in the workshops will have the opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of experienced calligraphers, ensuring that the traditional techniques and contemporary interpretations of this ancient art form continue to flourish in Dubai.
