Deutsche Presse-Agentur to Launch Regional Editorial Hub in Qatar

German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) has signed a strategic collaboration agreement to establish a regional editorial hub at Media City Qatar. The move marks a significant expansion of dpa’s editorial footprint in the Gulf region and aligns with its mission to deliver multilingual, fact-based journalism globally.

Set to commence operations in June 2025, the editorial hub will enhance dpa’s coverage in Arabic, German, English, and Spanish, contributing to more nuanced regional storytelling and strengthening the agency’s global news operations. The agreement spans an initial five-year period, further embedding dpa within the Middle East’s growing media landscape.

Eng. Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating:
“By welcoming dpa to our ecosystem of over 200 licensed partners, we reinforce our commitment to supporting Arabic content and advancing regional storytelling. This partnership is a significant step in shaping the future of media, driving innovation, and ensuring diverse stories from our region reach global audiences.”

Beyond editorial output, dpa will also focus on media training and professional development, offering capacity-building programs for regional media entities and individuals, particularly targeting Qatari talent development.

Peter Kropsch, CEO of dpa, emphasized the importance of the Gulf region in the agency’s long-term vision:
“We are delighted that, together with Media City Qatar, we have succeeded in expanding dpa's editorial presence in the Gulf. dpa has been reporting successfully in Arabic for decades and has strong roots in many Arab countries. With the new hub in Doha, we are extending our independent and non-partisan reporting from a region increasingly in the global spotlight.”

The hub will further strengthen dpa’s international network, which currently spans 137 locations worldwide, serving media organizations, government institutions, and corporate clients with reliable and unbiased journalism.
