Castrol Introduces Castrol Professional as First CO2 Neutral Engine Oil

Dubai, UAE- Castrol, the worlds leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of premium lubricating oils, has announced the launch of Castrol Professional range as the first CO2 neutral engine oils, during an event in Dubai. The event, which took place on the 25th of September, hosted Castrols premium customers to showcase Castrols latest technology innovations.

Castrol Professional products have become the first CO2-neutral engine oils by successfully meeting strict international environmental standards. Castrol EDGE Professional, Castrol Magnatec Professional and Castrol GTX Professional have all been certified CO2-neutral by BSI PAS2060, the global standard with the toughest demands for measuring and managing the CO2 footprint of a products life cycle. In 2014, two hundred thousand tons of CO2 are likely to be neutralized globally by Castrol Professional. This figure is expected to grow to nearly half a million tons the following year. (or .nearly half a million tons annually from the following year.)

Commenting on the new Castrol Professional range, Mike Phillips - Vice President, Castrol Middle East, said, Tackling CO2 emissions is a major issue for the automotive industry globally and Castrol Professional has made this a central part of its working relationship with manufacturers and dealers, as we develop more sophisticated and advanced engine oil formulations. This is a practical step towards a longer commitment to innovate sustainably through continued technological and scientific advancement.

Also launched during the event was new Castrol EDGE Professional - now boosted with TITANIUM FST technology which doubles its strength against oil film breakdown. The unique titanium polymer in Castrol EDGE Professional is proven to combat friction which slows the engine, consumes energy and impedes the engines ability to deliver power by up to 15% and reduces metal-to-metal contact that may critically damage engine components. Ultimately, this helps the engine to deliver better performance.

Also present at the launch event was renowned race driver AbdouFeghali, who brought to life the Castrol Edge Titanium Strong Blackout trials that demonstrated man and machine performing in sync while Castrol EDGE boosted with TITANIUM FST provides the outstanding oil strength they demand. Mike Phillips commented on the launch of the new oil, As advances in engine designs and technologies developed, car manufacturers aim to deliver greater efficiency than ever, which leads to an increase in fuel economy, reduced emissions and higher performance. Engines are working harder with engine pressure almost doubling; the only thing keeping metal engine components apart is the oil, so it needs to be strong and remain strong.
