Baker Hughes Opens New Surface Pressure Control Solutions Center in Abu Dhabi

Baker Hughes, a global energy technology leader, has inaugurated its new surface pressure control (SPC) headquarters and manufacturing center in Abu Dhabi. Developed in collaboration with Al Ghaith Energy, the 46,000-square-meter facility is designed to strengthen Baker Hughes’ regional presence and enhance service to key customers in the Middle East and worldwide. The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Group MD & CEO of ADNOC.

Strategically located in Abu Dhabi, the new center will produce a comprehensive range of wellhead and subsea tree equipment, allowing for faster delivery times, enhanced logistics, and efficient supply chain management. Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, emphasized the significance of the UAE as a strategic energy hub, highlighting the center’s role in delivering “the shortest-cycle, lowest-carbon barrel” of energy by optimizing local customer support.

Baker Hughes’ commitment to UAE localization is evident through this facility, which is expected to create over 100 new jobs and enhance the local talent pool via an on-site training center. The center complements SPC’s existing global network, including major manufacturing sites in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Suzhou, China, alongside service workshops in multiple international locations.

Atif Arikat, CEO of Al Ghaith Energy, expressed pride in the collaboration, underscoring the UAE’s leadership in the energy sector and the importance of increasing in-country manufacturing. The state-of-the-art Abu Dhabi facility offers advanced cladding, assembly, testing, repair, and inventory management, with its first products slated for delivery by year-end.
