Ghassan Aboud Holding Unifies Retail and Food Businesses on SAP Cloud Platform in Accelerated Eight-Month Rollout
Ghassan Aboud Holding has successfully deployed an end-to-end SAP cloud solution across its retail and food-related businesses, marking a significant milestone in the group's digital transformation journey. The implementation brings together Grandiose Supermarkets with the conglomerate’s manufacturing and catering operations on a unified platform designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve decision-making, and deliver a more seamless customer experience.
Completed in just eight months, the rollout includes SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and spans more than 50 Grandiose supermarket branches alongside the group’s wider retail and food ecosystem. The accelerated implementation timeline reflects the organization’s commitment to modernizing its core business systems while integrating multiple operational models into a single connected environment.
The deployment enables real-time visibility across key business functions, including point-of-sale operations, inventory management, finance, production planning, and supply chain activities. By consolidating these functions on a unified platform, Ghassan Aboud Holding aims to improve product availability, optimize forecasting, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance customer satisfaction across all business touchpoints.
Olivier Leblan, Group Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Ghassan Aboud Holding, said the transformation is fundamentally changing how the organization operates on a daily basis.
“What this transformation changes for us is how we operate on a daily basis. We now have the ability to see, decide, and act across our businesses in real time, from store shelves to production lines. That level of coordination allows us to reduce inefficiencies, improve availability, and ultimately deliver a better experience to our customers,” he said.
The implementation reflects the increasing importance of integrated operations within the retail and food sector, where demand forecasting, inventory management, pricing strategies, and production planning are closely interconnected. By connecting these functions, the company expects to reduce food waste, minimize stock shortages, strengthen margin management, and improve operational responsiveness.
In addition to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, the deployment incorporates SAP Datasphere, enabling the integration of both SAP and non-SAP data sources. The platform also leverages SAP Business AI and additional artificial intelligence-driven applications designed to automate routine processes, improve demand forecasting, and provide deeper insights into customer behavior and supply chain performance.
These advanced capabilities allow business leaders to make faster and more informed decisions while supporting the group's broader strategy of building a connected and data-driven retail ecosystem.
Marwan Zeineddine, Managing Director of SAP UAE, highlighted the strategic importance of unified digital platforms in supporting complex business environments.
“Organizations operating across interconnected business models need systems that can keep pace with both scale and operational complexity. With this deployment, Ghassan Aboud Holding has established a more unified platform across its retail and food ecosystem, enabling real-time visibility, stronger coordination between retail, manufacturing, and catering operations, and the ability to embed AI into everyday decision-making,” he said.
Zeineddine added that as agentic AI technologies become increasingly capable of supporting autonomous and adaptive business processes, a connected digital foundation will be critical for transforming data insights into scalable business outcomes.
The consolidation of systems also provides Ghassan Aboud Holding with a single source of truth across its operations, reducing reliance on manual reconciliation processes and improving consistency in reporting, governance, and operational control.
This enhanced visibility is expected to support better forecasting accuracy, replenishment planning, and pricing optimization—factors that can directly influence profitability and customer experience in the highly competitive retail sector.
Mohammed Abdul Khadeer, SAP Practice Head at Arete Global UAE, emphasized the collaborative effort required to deliver the transformation within a relatively short timeframe.
“Delivering an implementation of this breadth in such a short timeframe required close collaboration and a clear focus on business outcomes. The result is a platform that supports more agile operations today while giving the group the flexibility to expand and innovate in the future,” he said.
The successful rollout reinforces Ghassan Aboud Holding’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to support growth, enhance operational excellence, and strengthen its position across the retail, food, logistics, hospitality, and digital commerce sectors.
As businesses across the region increasingly invest in cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and integrated digital platforms, the project highlights the growing role of technology in shaping the future of retail and food operations in the UAE and beyond.
