Huawei Hosts Second "Innovation in Digital Transformation" Competition to Advance Telecom Business Models
Huawei held the second edition of the “Innovation in Digital Transformation” competition as part of the Operational Transformation Forum (OTF 2024), in conjunction with the Huawei Networks World Conference and Exhibition in Istanbul. The competition is designed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among telecom companies, supporting their efforts to transition to technology-driven and innovative business models that can thrive in a fast-evolving digital landscape.
With the telecom sector rapidly advancing toward smart digitalization, companies are restructuring their business models to keep pace with increasing competition. Huawei’s “Innovation in Digital Transformation” competition exemplifies the company’s commitment to strengthening the telecom ecosystem through collaboration with key telecom partners, exploring new digital capabilities, and improving operational efficiency. This year’s competition featured over 50 entries from telecom companies in the Middle East and Central Asia, with the top 26 shortlisted entries divided into five categories: boosting revenue per user, customer development, innovative services, reducing net loss, and curbing customer churn.
Allen Tang, President of Huawei ICT Solutions Marketing for the Middle East and Central Asia, noted the competition's success, stating: “The positive response to the first edition motivated us to organize this second edition, fostering a collaborative environment where telecom companies can share strategies, success stories, and innovative use cases that drive their digital transformation initiatives.”
The competition’s framework emphasized several strategic objectives essential for telecom companies, including increasing revenue per user, developing customer relationships, creating innovative services, reducing losses, and improving customer retention. Industry experts and leaders were invited to participate, sharing insights and case studies that will inspire telecom companies as they embrace digital transformation.
By leveraging AI, machine learning, and unified digital platforms, telecom companies can integrate data across domains, generate valuable insights, and develop new revenue streams. These changes will help telecoms enhance customer satisfaction, improve operational efficiency, and transition into agile organizations better suited for the digital age.
