AURAK Resumes Classes and Academic Activities
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has continued its classes and academic activities starting from the Fall semester 2020.
All health and safety measures specified in the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Prevention have been employed, in line with the measures followed regionally and globally, to guarantee the safety of students, faculty and management and protection from Covid-19 infection.
AURAK has proposed new standards associated with safety rules, as it chose to implement online learning in the first two weeks of the semester, before the change to the hybrid education practice. This arrangement will cover four days of classes, with Thursday committed to university activities.
Operation hours will be increased and run from 9 am to 10 pm to guarantee no more than 50% of the students and faculity are on campus at the same time, restricting in-person classes to50% of the enrolled students once a week for every class, and labs to 15 students. Lectures will be broadcasted live and recorded.
Before joining, everyone will be obligedto show a negative result for the COVID-19 virus in a test carried out not more than 48 hours before, and sign an engagement consenting to comply with the health and safety measures. This will incorporate students staying in the dorms as well. Wearing masks is compulsory, there will be no groups of more than 50 people, and physical distancing is being enforced.
Students opting to stay in the dorms are urged to take a single room or select a bedfellow who is a relative or a close friend. Any sort of delivery is hindered or limited by strict procedures. The University, in collaboration with RAK Medical Zone, will carry out periodical COVID-19 tests.
