ADPHC Launches Competency-Based Framework to Strengthen Workplace Safety in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has introduced a new competency-based regulatory framework under its Qudorat Program to enhance workplace safety standards and elevate professional qualifications across the emirate.
The framework is designed to regulate the registration of occupational safety and health (OSH) practitioners and service providers by assessing their qualifications and practical competencies against approved standards. The initiative aims to ensure workforce readiness, improve service quality, and strengthen compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Marking a significant shift in the regulation of the OSH profession, the framework adopts a performance-based approach that evaluates real-world capabilities alongside formal qualifications. This is expected to enhance the overall effectiveness of safety practices and contribute to safer working environments across various sectors in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Rashed Al Suwaidi said the initiative reflects a broader vision of public health that extends beyond healthcare facilities to include workplaces as critical environments influencing community wellbeing. He noted that the Qudorat Program focuses on ensuring the competence and preparedness of safety professionals, ultimately supporting the protection of public health and improving quality of life.
Under the framework, practitioners will undergo verification of credentials and competency assessments prior to registration. The initial phase will categorise professionals into roles such as OSH General Practitioner, Senior Practitioner, and Auditor. The system also emphasises continuous professional development to ensure specialists remain aligned with evolving global standards and best practices.
Registration for the programme will be facilitated through the TAMM digital platform, offering a streamlined and accessible process for practitioners and service providers.
The initiative forms part of ADPHC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s public health system through preventive strategies, focusing on empowering individuals, enhancing workplace safety, and promoting healthier communities across the emirate.
