ADCAN Pharma and Galenicum Partner to Strengthen UAE Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Medicine Supply Resilience

ADCAN Pharma, a leading UAE-based pharmaceutical manufacturer and the country’s first producer of oncology and hormone products, has entered into a strategic partnership with Galenicum, a Spain-based pharmaceutical company, to strengthen the UAE’s pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem and enhance regulatory capabilities.

The agreement marks a significant step in advancing local pharmaceutical production while supporting the UAE’s broader ambition of building a resilient and self-sufficient healthcare sector.

The official signing ceremony took place at ADCAN Pharma’s advanced manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi and was attended by Dr Shaikha Al Mazrouei, Director of the Research and Laboratories Department at the Emirates Drug Establishment, alongside senior representatives from ADCAN Pharma, Galenicum, UAE Health, and industry stakeholders.

Under the partnership, ADCAN Pharma will locally manufacture and facilitate batch release operations for selected Galenicum pharmaceutical products across the UAE, leveraging ADCAN’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) infrastructure and regulatory expertise.

The collaboration is expected to contribute to stronger supply chain reliability, improve medicine availability, and accelerate patient access to critical therapies across the country.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr Fokion Sinis, Chief Executive Officer of ADCAN Pharma, said the agreement represents an important milestone in expanding the company’s position as a trusted pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulatory partner.

He noted that the collaboration will strengthen ADCAN Pharma’s production capabilities and technical expertise while supporting the delivery of high-quality medicines designed to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s strategic healthcare priorities focused on reinforcing local manufacturing capacity and strengthening long-term national healthcare security.

By expanding domestic pharmaceutical production and reducing dependence on external supply chains, the partnership is expected to help mitigate supply risks and create faster access to essential medicines.

Sergio Malagrida, Chief Executive Officer of Galenicum Group, said the collaboration reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting healthcare localisation and expanding access to quality pharmaceutical products across regional markets.

He added that by combining Galenicum’s international pharmaceutical expertise with ADCAN Pharma’s advanced production capabilities and regulatory strengths in the UAE, the partnership aims to reduce supply chain bottlenecks and improve healthcare delivery outcomes.

Operating in more than 50 countries, Galenicum focuses on expanding access to affordable and high-quality medicines globally.

ADCAN Pharma currently operates three advanced manufacturing facilities with an annual production capacity of approximately 500 million tablets and 80 million capsules.

Through the combined capabilities of both organisations, the partnership is expected to play a meaningful role in accelerating pharmaceutical innovation, strengthening local manufacturing capacity, and supporting the continued development of the UAE’s healthcare sector.
