Yango Group and ROOTS Introduce Autonomous Delivery Robots in Dubai’s Sobha Hartland

Yango Group, a global technology leader, has partnered with ROOTS, a food tech and retail company, to launch autonomous delivery robots for last-mile grocery deliveries in Sobha Hartland, Dubai. This marks a major step towards smart, efficient, and eco-friendly urban logistics.

Following approval from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the robots will begin operations today, delivering groceries within a two-kilometre radius in under 30 minutes. Equipped with advanced AI navigation, they can autonomously plan routes, detect traffic signals, avoid obstacles, and ensure pedestrian safety.

Key Features of the Autonomous Delivery Robots

  • Smart Navigation: High-precision city maps and AI-driven neural networks allow the robots to recognize traffic lights, road signs, and obstacles.

  • Advanced Mobility: Six driving wheels with soft suspension enable them to climb curbs up to 10 cm high.

  • Spacious & Temperature-Controlled Storage: The 60-litre compartment can hold multiple grocery items, including dairy, fresh produce, and pre-packed meals, under optimal temperature conditions.

  • Seamless Order Process: Customers can order via the ROOTS website (go-roots.ae) and choose the robot delivery option at checkout. Upon arrival, customers receive a WhatsApp notification to retrieve their order.

Supporting Dubai’s Vision for Smart, Sustainable Mobility

The initiative aligns with the Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy, which aims to convert 25% of all transportation to autonomous modes by 2030, cutting CO₂ emissions by 30%.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency, RTA, stated:
"Dubai is committed to advancing smart mobility solutions that enhance urban life and sustainability. The introduction of self-driving delivery robots aligns with our vision to build a seamless transportation system that reduces congestion, emissions, and improves last-mile logistics."

Florian Jansen, Founder of ROOTS, emphasized the efficiency and sustainability of the initiative:
"This game-changing solution enhances local retail delivery by reducing delivery times while offering fresh organic products in an environmentally friendly way."

Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head, Yango Group Middle East, added:
"We are excited to bring autonomous delivery technology to Dubai and support its vision for smart transportation. We look forward to expanding partnerships with local businesses to further enhance last-mile delivery services."

Future Expansion & Yango Tech’s Role in AI-Powered Logistics

Beyond Sobha Hartland, Yango Group aims to expand its autonomous delivery network across Dubai. The company’s newly launched Yango Tech, a B2B AI ecosystem, offers AI-powered solutions like Autonomy, which optimizes logistics, reduces costs, and boosts last-mile delivery efficiency.

This innovative, sustainable approach to urban delivery marks a new era for Dubai’s smart transportation and logistics sector.
