WETEX 2015 keeps up with Dubais growth and reflects the Emirates global economic position

Dubai, UAE, 17 March 2015: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recorded significant growth in participation in the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2015. WETEX is held under the directives of HH sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA, from 21-23 April 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
WETEX 2015 is organised under the umbrella of Green Week 2015, in conjunction with the World Green Economy Summit. WETEX has successfully grown into one of the top global specialised exhibitions in water, energy, environment, oil and gas, and sustainability.

Over the last 16 years, WETEX attracted increasing numbers of exhibitors, experts, specialists, international and official delegations, and visitors. This was reflected in its total area, which increased each year to keep up with the increase in the number of exhibitors. In 1999, only 4 exhibitors from 2 countries took part in the first WETEX, which occupied just 130 square metres. Since then, the exhibition has grown significantly. The 16th WETEX in 2014 hosted over 1,500 exhibitors from 42 countries. It occupied an area of 49,300 square metres, and attracted over 22,600 visitors. WETEX 2015 is expected to host 1,600 exhibitors from 45 countries.
As a comprehensive exhibition for the key sectors of water, energy, environment, oil and gas, which lead the economic scene worldwide, an increasing number of experts, exhibitors, companies and interested individuals look forward to taking part in WETEX 2015. It has consolidated its position as a global specialised exhibition in these fields and has provided excellent results for participants year after year.

In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to promote Dubais global position, we at DEWA have worked to consolidate the standing of WETEX on the global calendar of events, as part of the larger goal of establishing Dubais position as a global hub for trade, finance, tourism, green economy and sustainability, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and President and Founder of WETEX.
The impressive growth in terms of exhibitors, display area, and participating countries, reflects the growing global interest in WETEX, the largest of its kind in the region. It also reflects increasing awareness of the importance of modern and advanced solutions for energy, water, and environmental sustainability.

Commenting on the Green Week, which is organised for the second consecutive week, Al Tayer added, By organising the Green Week, we spread a culture of environmental sustainability among all members of society and encourage them to adopt and spread it in turn. Launching the Green Week last year included the most significant environmental events and activities in Dubai that promote green best practices. DEWA will organise a number of community events directed at all segments of society to discuss sustainability issues through the seminars that accompany WETEX and the World Green Economy Summit. The weeks agenda also includes a number of community educational activities, such as workshops and seminars to raise awareness on the sensible use of electricity and water, conservation of natural resources, and protecting the environment.
