UAE Showcases Innovation and Startup Ecosystem at GITEX Europe 2025 in Berlin
The United Arab Emirates underscored its growing global influence in the fields of technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation at GITEX Europe 2025, held in Berlin from May 21 to 23. The UAE's strong participation reaffirmed its commitment to fostering international collaboration and empowering the startup and SME sector as a key pillar of its future economy.
The UAE Pavilion, inaugurated by H.E. Alia bint Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, served as a vital platform for Emirati entrepreneurs and innovators to showcase cutting-edge technologies across AI, sustainability, health tech, smart mobility, and green solutions. The event drew wide participation from over 100 countries, with more than 1,400 exhibitors, 750 startups, and 600 investors present.
Strategic National Participation
The UAE delegation, led by H.E. Al Mazrouei, featured senior officials including H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Chairman of Dubai Chambers; H.E. Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to Germany; and H.E. Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Hawi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Investment. They were joined by prominent figures such as H.E. Omran Sharaf and Berlin’s Mayor Kai Wegner.
More than 38 representatives from the UAE government and private entities participated, along with 21 startups and SMEs operating in high-impact sectors. This reflects the UAE’s dedication to creating a globally competitive, innovation-driven economy.
Driving Entrepreneurship and Innovation
In a keynote address, H.E. Al Mazrouei emphasized the UAE’s transformation into a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, driven by a supportive ecosystem, flexible regulatory frameworks, and world-class digital infrastructure.
“GITEX Europe is a strategic opportunity to strengthen UAE-Europe partnerships, support our SMEs, and promote Emirati innovation in future-focused industries,” H.E. Al Mazrouei stated. She highlighted the country’s recent 800% surge in tech startup funding and its top global ranking in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report for the fourth consecutive year.
The Innovation Hour
A major highlight of the UAE Pavilion was The Innovation Hour, a panel session showcasing the country’s successful entrepreneurship policies and featuring 10 Emirati startups. The session attracted investors and stakeholders interested in sustainable technologies, artificial intelligence, smart city solutions, and health tech.
Expanding UAE-Germany Collaboration
During the opening ceremony, H.E. Al Mazrouei reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Germany and broader Europe. She underscored the importance of knowledge transfer, strategic alliances, and joint innovation initiatives to accelerate global economic sustainability.
