Two more teams qualify to compete in Xerox Corporate Golf Challenges Grand Final
Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge (XCGC) 2015 held its 11th qualifying round at the Doha Golf Club in Qatar, on October 16, teeing off with shotguns at 7.15am and 12.15pm. A total of 90 players participated in the days qualifying rounds.
Jacques Du Toit and Henk Joubert took first place in the morning round with 42 points (CB), with Gary Mond and Stuart Davies earning second place also with 42 points. Third place was secured by David Land and Karl Bishop, with 41 points (CB).
Ominous cloud cover quickly gathered for the afternoon round resulting in a magnificent lightening display, and which saw the round reduced to a 12-hole competition. This round was won by Muzakkir Sulaiman and Muhammad Amin Fauzi, with 31 points, followed by Richard Filby and Oliver Smith in second place with 29 points (CB). Grahame McCaig and Martin Castle took third place with 29 points.
On-course competitions included Aramexs Nearest to the Pin on Hole 3, won by Ali Mohamed; Crystal Gallerys Hole 6 Longest Drive and PWSs Hole 10 Longest Drive, both won by Chris Sharkey, and Eccos Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17, won by De Wet Espach.
The two top winning teams will play in the Grand Final in Ras Al Khaimah at the end of 2015, and will be the second of two teams representing South Africa.
