Dubai Humanitarian hosts annual global meeting to strengthen future humanitarian priorities
Dubai Humanitarian has hosted its annual Members’ Global Meeting (MGM), bringing together humanitarian partners, government representatives, private sector stakeholders, and international organisations to review achievements, address emerging global challenges, and define future priorities for humanitarian action.
Held in Dubai, the event convened more than 80 members from across the humanitarian ecosystem, including representatives from government entities, academic institutions, and global aid organisations.
Opening the meeting, Giuseppe Saba presented a review of the organisation’s achievements over the past year, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen humanitarian supply chains, improve operational resilience, and enhance global emergency response capabilities.
A key feature of the meeting was a high-level panel discussion titled “Dubai Humanitarian: Between Today and Tomorrow”, which focused on operational resilience, evolving humanitarian challenges, and the importance of collaboration across sectors.
The panel included representatives from Dubai Customs, Emirates, ACS, and UNHCR, who discussed the growing need for coordinated humanitarian responses and efficient aid delivery systems amid increasingly complex global crises.
Commenting on the event, Giuseppe Saba said Dubai Humanitarian remains focused on enabling faster, smarter, and more coordinated humanitarian responses worldwide.
“As the global humanitarian landscape grows more complex, our role is to enable faster, smarter, and more coordinated responses,” he said.
The meeting also featured the Dubai Humanitarian Awards Ceremony, which recognised outstanding projects and initiatives led by member organisations across four categories.
The award for Most Impactful Partnership was presented to The Sparkle Foundation for its Namitembo Medical Outreach Programme in Malawi, which addresses gaps in access to primary healthcare services.
The Best SDGs-Focused Project/Initiative award went to Food Banking Regional Network for its Rooftop Plantation Project in Egypt’s Asmarat Community, aimed at promoting food security and sustainable livelihoods.
SOS Children’s Villages International received the Best Innovation award for its youth-led plastic recycling initiative implemented across five African countries, transforming waste into economic opportunities for communities.
Meanwhile, the Most Engaging Campaign award was presented to The Citizens Foundation for its Obhartay Sitaray fundraising initiative supporting education through community-driven participation.
The MGM also highlighted Dubai Humanitarian’s collaboration with American University in Dubai through a capstone initiative focused on developing future humanitarian leaders and strengthening partnerships with academic institutions.
The event concluded with an open discussion session, allowing members and stakeholders to share insights and contribute to shaping Dubai Humanitarian’s future direction.
In his closing remarks, Saba reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to innovation, strategic partnerships, and building a more sustainable and effective global humanitarian support network.
