Stephen Liang to Retire; Scott Armul Appointed Chief Product and Technology Officer at Vertiv Effective 2026

Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, announced that Chief Technology Officer Stephen Liang will retire on January 1, 2026, after more than three decades of outstanding service. Liang has been instrumental in defining Vertiv’s technology vision, from his early career at Emerson to his leadership role throughout Vertiv’s transformation into a global technology innovator.

Earlier this year, Liang transitioned to focus exclusively on his CTO responsibilities, leading the company’s global technology strategy and innovation initiatives.

Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv, expressed gratitude for Liang’s long-standing leadership and influence, stating:

“Stephen’s contributions to Vertiv have been far-reaching throughout his tenure. He has played a critical role in defining and driving our technology strategy and innovation agenda. His leadership has been instrumental in positioning Vertiv as a technological leader in our industry, and his legacy will continue to shape our future success.”

Leadership Transition

Following Liang’s retirement, Scott Armul will assume an expanded role as Chief Product and Technology Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Armul, who was promoted to Executive Vice President of Global Portfolio and Business Units earlier this year, will now also oversee the Technology Office, integrating it more closely with Vertiv’s business and product development units.

This strategic alignment aims to strengthen the connection between technology innovation and business strategy, ensuring Vertiv continues to meet evolving customer needs through cutting-edge infrastructure solutions.

Armul’s Background and Vision

Armul joined Vertiv in 2009 and has since held a range of technical, leadership, and customer-centric roles, gaining deep insight into the company’s operations and markets. His appointment reflects Vertiv’s commitment to nurturing internal talent and fostering a high-performance culture that prioritizes innovation, growth, and long-term impact.

Under Armul’s leadership, Vertiv aims to accelerate its development of next-generation infrastructure technologies designed to support the world’s growing demand for data centre efficiency, digital transformation, and sustainable operations.
