Statement by H.E. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, SLC Secretary General, on World Humanitarian Day

"World Humanitarian Day is a reminder of the importance of humanitarian activities and initiatives, offering a moment to honor the remarkable efforts and generous contributions of philanthropists and benefactors worldwide. It also serves to promote the values of giving and extending a helping hand to those affected by crises and disasters, without discrimination, thereby reinforcing the principle of human fraternity.

In the UAE, humanitarian work is deeply valued as a core principle and an integral part of our society's identity. This commitment is inspired by the vision of our wise leadership and the enduring legacy of our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

On this occasion, we at the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC) express our profound gratitude and appreciation to the compassionate Emirati people, who have consistently demonstrated exemplary dedication in assisting those in need and fostering hope in communities facing challenges, conflicts, and disasters. This commitment aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who has affirmed that 'Fostering hope is the highest form of humanitarian work and the noblest of virtues.'

As a reflection of our belief in the importance of humanitarian work, we reaffirm our commitment to developing a legislative framework that supports humanitarian efforts, ensuring the efficient and regulated delivery of aid to those in need, wherever they may be."
