SolitAir launches first direct cargo service to mainland China with inaugural flight to Urumqi
SolitAir, the UAE’s dedicated B2B airport-to-airport cargo airline, has launched its first direct service to Urumqi, China, marking a major milestone in its expansion strategy into one of the world’s fastest-growing air cargo markets.
The new route represents SolitAir’s inaugural entry into mainland China, following its successful operations to Hong Kong. It underscores the airline’s commitment to strengthening trade connectivity between the UAE and China while deepening its network across the Global South.
Strengthening UAE-China trade links
China remains the UAE’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade surpassing US $101.8 billion in 2024, reflecting a 7% year-on-year increase. This figure is projected to rise further in 2025, driven by growing demand for efficient logistics solutions.
Hamdi Osman, Founder and CEO of SolitAir, highlighted the strategic importance of the new service.
“China is a cornerstone in our vision to connect the Global South through fast, reliable, and tech-driven air cargo solutions. The UAE and China share a deeply rooted strategic partnership across trade and technology. This new route will not only facilitate trade but also strengthen the vital economic bridge between the two nations, further enabling the seamless flow of goods and fostering greater prosperity across the Global South.”
Expanding footprint across the Global South
SolitAir, which specializes in express daily scheduled and charter cargo services, has positioned itself as a key enabler of cross-border trade. By adding Urumqi to its growing list of destinations, the carrier reinforces its ambition to provide tailored, technology-driven solutions to support businesses across emerging economies.
