Slack Workforce Index: Daily AI Usage Among Workers Surges 233%, Boosting Job Satisfaction and Productivity
Slack’s latest Workforce Index reveals a dramatic rise in artificial intelligence adoption among global desk workers, with daily AI usage soaring 233% over the past six months. The report, based on a survey of over 5,000 workers across key global markets, underscores a shift in how employees are embracing AI not just for automation but to enhance creativity, productivity, and job satisfaction.
According to the report, 60% of desk workers now use AI, and 40% have interacted with AI agents. Notably, those who use AI daily are 64% more productive and 81% more satisfied with their jobs than non-users. Trust in AI also increases with experience — daily users are more than twice as likely to trust AI in areas such as data protection, accuracy, and decision-making.
AI as a Skill Enabler, Not Just an Automation Tool
Rather than replacing jobs, AI is being used to unlock new capabilities. An overwhelming 96% of users said they’ve used AI to perform tasks they previously didn’t have the skills for. From brainstorming and summarizing to drafting communications and creating presentations, AI is enabling workers to shift focus toward strategic and creative work.
“The surge in AI adoption is fundamentally reshaping the workplace,” said Denise Dresser, CEO of Slack. “As workers embrace AI with growing trust and confidence, businesses gain a clear opportunity to unlock greater productivity and innovation.”
Salesforce Middle East Insights
The trend is mirrored in the Middle East, where AI is being rapidly adopted, particularly among younger workers. Mohammed Alkhotani, SVP and GM of Salesforce Middle East, commented:
“What we see among organizations in the Middle East reflects Slack’s global research, with strong adoption of AI agents, especially among millennials. Businesses must foster this enthusiasm and ensure the right policies are in place to support sustainable AI growth.”
Key Findings at a Glance:
“As workers use and experiment with AI, their trust and enthusiasm grows. They are not just working faster—they’re working smarter,” added Lucas Puente, VP of Research at Salesforce.
Methodology
The Workforce Index survey was conducted between April 9 and May 1, 2025, across six countries — the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Japan, and Australia — involving 5,156 full-time desk workers. The study excluded Slack and Salesforce employees and was administered independently by Qualtrics.
