Sharjah Ramps Up Transport Services with 180 Buses and Special Marine Trips
In preparation for the expected spike in travel during the Eid Al Adha holiday, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced a major boost to its public transportation services. A total of 180 buses will operate across multiple routes, completing around 5,600 trips over the four-day break.
To accommodate the surge in demand, the SRTA stated that bus frequency will increase significantly, with buses running every 5 minutes during peak hours — a dramatic improvement from the usual 45-minute intervals. This enhancement is aimed at reducing wait times and ensuring smoother travel for residents and tourists alike.
Key hubs such as Jubail Bus Station will see an increased number of staff and extended operational hours, opening early and running late into the night to manage the anticipated crowds efficiently.
Each day, SRTA will run 1,144 trips on 12 main routes using 104 buses, covering 543 stops throughout the city. This comprehensive coverage ensures seamless connectivity across Sharjah during the festive period.
Marine Transport Boost
In addition to land transport, SRTA has also partnered with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to launch a special boat service between Sharjah and Dubai. The service will operate four daily trips, departing from Aquarium Station in Sharjah and arriving at Al Ghubaiba Station in Dubai. The initiative aims to provide a scenic and efficient alternative for inter-emirate travel during the holiday.
