Sharjah Islamic Bank and University of Sharjah Partner to Advance Financial Literacy and National Talent Development

Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) and the University of Sharjah (UoS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in financial literacy, professional development, practical training, talent acquisition, and student career readiness.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the banking and academic sectors, supporting initiatives that bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world professional experience while creating value for students, graduates, and both institutions.

The partnership represents the first phase of a broader initiative launched by Sharjah Islamic Bank to enhance collaboration with universities and colleges across the UAE. The initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to investing in national talent, promoting financial awareness, and supporting the development of a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.

The MoU was signed in the presence of H.E. Mohamed Abdalla, Chief Executive Officer of Sharjah Islamic Bank, and H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah. The agreement was formally signed by Yaqoub Amir, Manager of Human Resources at Sharjah Islamic Bank, and Shihab Alhammadi, Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs at the University of Sharjah.

Speaking on the partnership, Mohamed Abdalla said the collaboration reflects the bank’s commitment to empowering future generations with the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in the banking and financial services sector.

He noted that strengthening connections between academic education and professional application is essential for preparing qualified graduates capable of adapting to ongoing transformations within the financial industry. Abdalla added that the agreement marks the beginning of a wider strategy to expand cooperation with educational institutions throughout the UAE while creating more opportunities for training, professional development, and talent recruitment.

Professor Esameldin Agamy said the partnership aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, to prepare national talent in accordance with labor market requirements.

He emphasized that the agreement supports the university’s mission of graduating students who combine academic excellence with practical expertise, enabling them to contribute effectively to national development and integrate successfully into the banking and financial sectors.

Under the terms of the MoU, Sharjah Islamic Bank and the University of Sharjah will collaborate on internship and field training programs, career fairs, graduate development initiatives, and talent acquisition programs designed to improve student employability and workplace readiness.

The partnership will also include lectures, workshops, awareness campaigns, and specialized training programs focused on financial literacy, banking awareness, consumer protection, and future workplace skills. Both organizations will explore opportunities to develop additional initiatives that strengthen students’ professional capabilities and support long-term career growth.

Furthermore, the collaboration will examine the provision of tailored banking services and benefits for university students, faculty members, and administrative staff in accordance with approved policies and procedures.

The initiative reinforces Sharjah Islamic Bank’s commitment to social responsibility and human capital development through strategic partnerships that foster greater integration between academic knowledge and professional practice while contributing to a more informed, skilled, and future-ready society.
