Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority road shows target new markets in Europe
In line with its ongoing efforts to promote the emirate of Sharjah as a leading family and cultural tourism destination, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) organised a series of road shows in cooperation with tourism and hospitality sector partners across major European cities from June 7 to 12, covering for the first time markets such as Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Poland.
SCTDA stressed the European road shows held considerable significance in the light of the recent launch of the Sharjah Tourism Vision 2021 that aims to attract 10 million tourists by 2021. The Authority called for concerted efforts to highlight the initiatives, programmes and services launched under the Vision, and stated that the road shows helped shed light on the planned projects in the hospitality sector as well as innovative services and attractive offers activated under the various pillars of the Vision.
SCTDA is focused on organising promotional tours in major cities, especially in the European continent considering that Europe is one of the major markets for Sharjah tourism. SCTDA stated the Authority will continue to take part in major tourism fairs and international exhibitions in view of their direct impact on the volume of tourist flow to the emirate every year.
The European road shows began with the first stop on June 7 at Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, followed by the Bulgarian capital Sofia on June 10. The tour concluded with a road show in the city of Warsaw, capital of Poland on June 12.
The SCTDA road shows included workshops and meetings with leading government and private sector players, investors and market leaders and representatives from the travel and tourism industry from the continent.
SCTDA has planned a number of promotional tours throughout the year in major capitals and cities of the Gulf and European countries. The Authority concluded a successful road show in April covering Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In the months ahead, more Gulf cities will be visited as part of the itinerary. The Authority has also successfully organised some outstanding promotional tours in the Middle East, Europe and Asia in recent years.
SCTDA recently launched Sharjah Tourism Vision 2021 by focusing on four main pillars - Ideal Family Tourism Destination, Innovative Tourism Approach, World Class Tourism Facilities and Capabilities, and International Cultural Hub - to strengthen the status of the emirate as a leading destination for family tourism.
