Santhigiri Onam Celebration "Souhrida Koottayma" Held in Dubai

Dubai: The Santigiri Cultural and Social Center UAE hosted the Onam celebration titled "Souhrida  Koottayma" (Friendly Gathering) at Jacob Garden Hotel, Dubai. The event, attended by spiritual companions and well-wishers, commenced with continuous chanting prayers led by the esteemed Brahmachari Satpriyan.

The cultural program officially began with a welcome speech by Mr. Murali Ekarool, convener of the Souhrida Koottayma. Following this, Brahmachari Satpriyan, coordinator of the Shantigiri Cultural and Social Center, spoke about the spiritual teachings of Shantigiri Ashram, founded by Navajyothi Sri Karunakara Guru. He addressed the challenges faced in family life by spiritual companions and emphasized the need for spiritual awareness.

The chief guest, Mrs. Shilpa Nair, National Vice President of the Indian People's Forum and President of People for Dharma, who is also an accomplished dancer in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, delivered an insightful and captivating speech. She eloquently narrated the spiritual journey from Karunan Kunju to Navajyothi Sri Karunakara Guru, inspiring the audience with her reflections.

Mr. Manoj George, Managing Director of GMG Management Consultancy, shared his personal experiences at the Santigiri Ashram, while Dr. Jaisam Kunhabdullah, an Ayurvedic doctor at Ayur Sathya Ayurveda in Dubai, highlighted Santigiri’s significant contributions to healthcare.

Mr. Vincent Francis, FMB Manager at Jacob Garden Greek Hotel, in his congratulatory remarks, stressed the importance of encouraging cultural gatherings like the Santigiri Cultural and Social Center to enrich the lives of expatriates. His words were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Another highlight of the event was Mr. Fayas Ali Muhammad Ali, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Usood Group of Companies, who made a thought-provoking comparison between the words of the Prophet and the teachings of Guru, creating a unique experience for the attendees.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Shyammon, followed by vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances. These colorful presentations added to the spirit of love and unity that defined the Souhrida Koottayma, marking a new chapter in this gathering’s history.

Just like the legend of King Mahabali, where distinctions of caste, religion, and status disappeared, the attendees came together to take group photos, creating unforgettable memories for the expatriates.

With over 150 participants, the event concluded with a grand Onam feast, bringing a memorable end to this year’s Souhrida Koottayma celebration.
