School of Life Launches ‘Towards a Healthy Life’ Series in Dubai Libraries

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced a vibrant schedule of workshops for November under its School of Life initiative, themed ‘Towards a Healthy Life.’ The series will feature 37 engaging workshops at Dubai Public Library branches, covering topics across Wellness & Nutrition, Cinema & Photography, Calligraphy, Career Development, Art, Chess, and more.

Wellness and Nutrition Workshops

Al Safa Art & Design Library will host Ladies’ Pilates sessions led by Pilates Academy, promoting mental and physical balance. Al Twar Public Library will run a “Sleepwell Retreat” for teens aged 15 to 18, offering tools for better sleep and relaxation, while Al Mankhool Library’s Healthy Treats Lab, led by Dr. Ronza Diab, will teach nutritious snack preparation. Additionally, Hor Al Anz Library will feature a First Aid & Emergency Skills session in partnership with Dubai Civil Defence, educating children aged 8 to 14 on essential safety skills. The Wellness & Nutrition Open Day at Al Safa will offer fun fitness activities, family competitions, free health consultations, and cooking demonstrations, with local vendors on site.

Cinema, Photography, and Chess Clubs

Al Mankhool Library will present two photography workshops with Touma Bittar, including "Capturing the Perfect Shot" and "Cinematic Lighting," exploring storytelling through lighting techniques. For young chess enthusiasts, the library will host a Chess Club covering fundamentals, strategy, and preparation for tournaments.

Career and Family Development Workshops

The Career Club at Al Mankhool Library will offer a “Mastering LinkedIn” session to help adults build strong personal brands, followed by “Microsoft Excel Master 2” by Mohammed ElMaakki, focused on data analysis and automation. Meanwhile, Hatta Public Library’s Family Developing Club will hold “The Art of Presenting Dishes” with Nour Khouri, encouraging creativity in meal presentation.

Art and Calligraphy Clubs

The Art Club at Al Safa Art & Design Library will host “Nature in One Colour” with Magdi Kafraoui, a session dedicated to exploring nature through blue hues, and “Master Art with Coloured Pencils,” focused on blending and shading techniques. The Medaf Creative Studio will lead two Art 101 sessions on metal embossing and painting on concrete. Additionally, calligraphy workshops across three libraries will include sessions on Diwani Jali and Ruq’ah scripts, Baybayin calligraphy, and ornamentation.

Book Club and Literary Activities

Children aged 9 to 12 can join Al Safa’s Book Club for “Story Explorers 01: The Little Prince” by Naouel Chaoui, where they’ll dive into the classic story’s themes through interactive activities.
