The Aquila School, a member of the International Schools Partnership (iSP), celebrated the official opening of its new secondary building today, underscoring its dedication to delivering exceptional educational facilities. The opening ceremony, held at The Aquila School in Dubailand, brought together students, parents, staff, and community members to commemorate this important addition.
Principal Wayne Howsen welcomed guests, sharing his excitement for the school’s future: "This is an exciting new chapter for The Aquila School. With the opening of our first Sixth Form IB cohort this year, we are proud to offer all our secondary students a state-of-the-art learning environment that supports their ambitions and growth." Howsen reflected on the school's growth since its founding, highlighting its expansion from 67 students and 28 staff to over 1,300 students and 260 staff.
Celebrations included student performances and bilingual presentations, reaffirming the school’s commitment to Arabic language education and multilingualism. To honor founding families, attendees participated in a memorable abseiling activity, revisiting the school's original opening ceremony tradition.
Kam Bhamra, Regional Managing Director of iSP Middle East, expressed pride in The Aquila School's development, stating, “As our flagship school in the region, we are proud of all that The Aquila School has achieved and grateful for the continued trust our founding families have placed in us.”
The new building provides an enhanced learning experience with specialized classrooms for design and food technology, a black box theatre, a rooftop garden, a hydroponics area, and a school-wide canteen, reinforcing the school’s commitment to sustainability. Catering to children from FS to Year 13, The Aquila School’s Sixth Form opened this year, offering Asdan, BTech, IBDP, and IBCP pathways.
