Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting highlighted its ambitious strategy for economic transformation through a series of impactful sessions. Key ministers outlined the Kingdom’s initiatives under Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing long-term growth, innovation, and sustainability.
In a session titled “Saudi Arabia’s Economic Shifts,” His Excellency Mohammed A. Aljadaan, Minister of Finance, discussed the driving forces behind the Kingdom’s transformation. “The whole nation has been mobilized behind Saudi Vision 2030. There’s a very clear vision that the people, the business community, and the government are all driving towards. We have leadership that takes a long-term view, prepared to make tough decisions, and to be consistent,” he stated.
Addressing the future of artificial intelligence in the session “The Road Ahead for Scaling AI,” His Excellency Abdullah A. Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, underlined Saudi Arabia’s role in fostering global collaboration. “In Davos, we are working with partners, innovators, and policymakers to leverage our competitive advantage and fuel the AI economy to serve humanity,” he said.
His Excellency Bandar I. Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, participated in the session “Next-Gen Industrial Infrastructure,” emphasizing the role of technology in economic diversification. He remarked, “Through digital infrastructure and connectivity, Saudi Arabia is prioritizing the manufacturing sector as a key driver of economic growth, supported by future-focused technologies.”
Commenting on the Kingdom’s broader economic transformation, His Excellency Faisal F. Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning, stated, “The Kingdom’s story is an example of how transformation serves as an engine of growth. Despite global challenges, we have ignited new engines of progress, reflecting the resilience of our vision.”
Sustainability and Innovation Initiatives
Saudi Arabia also made significant announcements at WEF 2025. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) revealed that Jubail Industrial City has become the first city in the region to join WEF’s Transitioning Industrial Clusters to Sustainable Development initiative. This program, developed in collaboration with Accenture and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), aims to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial hubs.
Additionally, the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority published a report on its initiative, “Saudi Arabia’s Markets of Tomorrow Accelerator.” This program, launched in collaboration with WEF’s Accelerator Network, focuses on driving economic transformation through entrepreneurship and fostering the growth of emerging markets. The report highlights solutions that align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and address challenges to accelerate development.
