The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) hosted the inaugural graduation ceremony of the Saud bin Saqr Scholarship Program today, honoring a dynamic cohort of 14 students who successfully completed the five-week broadcasting course.

Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the Scholarship Program aims to groom the next generation of skilled journalists and content creators to produce engaging content and further enhance the region’s global profile.

Launched in 2023 under the patronage of the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, supported by the Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office (RAKGMO), and facilitated by AURAK, the program integrated a three-week academic segment comprising broadcast and multimedia fundamentals, guest sessions from media professionals, and a practical assignment exploring various aspects of Ras Al Khaimah.

The five-week course also included a two-week mandatory internship allowing students to gain hands-on experience at select RAK Government entities and private organizations, including RAKGMO and the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research.

Ms. Heba Fatani, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office, described the inaugural graduation as a testament to the spirit of excellence, dedication, and innovation fostered by the Saud bin Saqr Scholarship Program.

Dr. Natasha Ridge, Executive Director of the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, emphasized the program's alignment with their mission of fostering a creative, collaborative, and people-centered approach to building knowledge and skills.

Dr. David A. Schmidt, President of AURAK, highlighted the university's commitment to excellence in media education, stating that the graduates represent the future of broadcasting, armed with skills to positively influence the media landscape.

One graduate, Ms. Azza Al Ali, expressed her pride at successfully completing the program, stating that the comprehensive curriculum and practical training equipped her with essential skills and insights to excel in reporting.

The graduation ceremony was part of the AURAK Mass Communication Program’s Annual Media Harvest, showcasing outstanding student projects and initiatives in various fields including film, advertising, digital media, public relations, and design.
