MoHESR and ENEC Partner to Empower Emirati Engineering Talent through National Scholarship Programme

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has signed a strategic partnership with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) to enhance the National Scholarship Programme and support the development of highly skilled Emirati engineers in critical technical fields aligned with the UAE’s future labour market needs.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector and Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at MoHESR, and Ahmed Jassim Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Human Capital at ENEC, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.

Key Objectives of the Partnership:

  • Provide scholarships for Emirati students pursuing degrees in mechanical, electrical, chemical, and nuclear engineering.

  • Align educational pathways with the UAE's strategic sectors and future workforce demands.

  • Offer career development support, including structured training and guaranteed employment opportunities post-graduation at ENEC.

  • Enhance collaboration on university selection, scholarship criteria, and student guidance throughout the scholarship journey.

His Excellency Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi emphasized:

“We are committed to working with national companies like ENEC to align our scholarships with the demands of the labour market. Our goal is to make the scholarship journey a launchpad for Emirati students to become future leaders and contributors to national development.”

As part of the agreement, MoHESR will allocate a set number of annual scholarships in coordination with ENEC, while ENEC will provide training, mentorship, and eventual employment for selected scholars, ensuring a smooth transition from education to industry.

Ahmed Jassim Al Shamsi stated:

“ENEC is dedicated to nurturing Emirati talent to support the long-term growth of the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program. This partnership allows us to attract and develop the next generation of nuclear specialists, advancing the country’s clean energy goals and strengthening its knowledge-based economy.”

Strengthening National Competitiveness

This partnership reflects a broader vision of inter-agency collaboration to build national capabilities and ensure the sustainability and efficiency of the National Scholarship Programme. By investing in human capital development, MoHESR and ENEC are reinforcing the UAE’s global competitiveness in specialized and future-facing industries.
