Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), DP World - UAE Region, Gargash Enterprises - Mercedes-Benz and Michelin, have efficiently introduced SAFE TRUCKS 2018, a vehicle security initiative, targeted at raising basic awareness of truck safety elements and safety treatments when driving.

The project had two major phases - educational safety seminars and truck safety and security examinations. The security workshops, which occurred at DP World in Jebel Ali Free Area (JAFZA) properties from the 26 th to the 29 th of March 2018, targeted vehicle motorists, DP World staff members, and proprietors and managers of companies based in JAFZA. Safety lectures and recommendations were used by subject specialists from DP World, RTA, Mercedes-Benz and Michelin.

MICHELIN is an official partner in the UN Years of Activity for Road Safety (2011-2020) and is devoted to supporting road security recognition and education campaigns with roadway individuals globally. The Michelin importer in Dubai and Northern Emirates, Central Trading Company General Manager, Mohamed Aqel said, "We are pleased to be part of these efforts as we believe tires are very essential to vehicle safety and security. Our aim is to elevate recognition regarding tire security, accountable driving and much safer roadways."

The second stage of SAFE TRUCKS 2018 consisted of free vehicle safety exams at DP World Examination Centers in JAFZA, from the 2 nd to the 5 th of April 2018. Vehicle security facets including tires, brakes, oil leakages, headlights, wipers, and so on, were inspected by technical support teams and professionals representing Michelin, Mercedes-Benz and RTA. These check-ups also consisted of supplying vehicle drivers with professional recommendations and safety status records of their lorries, while highlighting the significance of driving on safe tires.

Ms. Deema Fouad Hussein, Traffic Awareness Senior Manager at RTA, said: "RTA is a fully commited partner in promoting road security efforts. SAFE TRUCKS 2018 campaign has allowed us to strengthen understanding concerning the essential facets of vehicle safety, including the problem of tyres, which is usually overlooked by drivers."

Taste outcomes revealed that virtually 35% of vehicle chauffeurs were found to be driving either on under- or over-inflated tires. Almost 18% of the tyres examined throughout the safety and security examinations had issues ranging from fractures, unequal tread wear, to fully worn-out footsteps, which then endangers lives of both the vehicle drivers and other roadway individuals, if not immediately addressed.

" I would love to thank our companions for making SAFE TRUCKS 2018 effort an effective occasion and a fantastic contribution to safer roads in Dubai. As part of our company social responsibility programs, we wish that such effort could be a repeating occasion, targeting at increasing awareness on road safety", said Thomas Rothe, General Manager for Gargash Enterprises, the Authorized Supplier of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Cars in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
