PureHealth and Yellow Door Energy Sign Master Lease Agreement to Advance Sustainable Healthcare in the UAE

PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, has signed a long-term master lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy to deliver clean electricity across its network of hospitals and clinics in the UAE.

The signing ceremony took place at PureHealth’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, attended by senior executives from PureHealth, SEHA, and Yellow Door Energy.

25-year clean energy commitment

The 25-year agreement will see on-site solar power plants installed across PureHealth’s healthcare facilities. The systems are expected to generate approximately 23.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by around 7,200 metric tons per year.

The initiative supports the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategy while reinforcing PureHealth’s own commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2040.

Leadership comments

Leya Al Damani, Chief Sustainability Officer at PureHealth, described the partnership as a benchmark for sustainable healthcare transformation, emphasizing the group’s responsibility to reduce the environmental footprint of the healthcare sector. She noted that integrating resilient infrastructure and reliable clean power would enhance operational efficiency and ensure uninterrupted patient care.

Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy, highlighted the importance of powering essential healthcare infrastructure with renewable energy, adding that the company’s portfolio has already generated over 1.1 terawatt-hours of clean electricity from operating projects. He said the partnership would accelerate PureHealth’s sustainability objectives while contributing to national climate targets.

Solar leasing model to enhance efficiency

Under the master lease agreement, Yellow Door Energy will finance, design, construct, commission, operate and maintain the solar power plants across PureHealth’s UAE assets.

The solar leasing model enables PureHealth to adopt renewable energy without upfront capital investment, improving cost predictability, operational resilience and long-term asset planning. The project forms part of PureHealth’s Smart Facilities and Operations strategy, aimed at reducing reliance on fossil fuels while advancing energy efficiency and digital transformation.

Supporting integrated sustainability in healthcare

Industry observers note that the agreement reflects a broader shift toward integrated sustainability in healthcare, where clean energy adoption, operational efficiency and patient-centric services converge to build resilient healthcare systems.

By embedding renewable energy into its infrastructure strategy, PureHealth strengthens its role in advancing the UAE’s sustainability agenda while supporting healthier communities and a lower-carbon future.
