Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won the UAE Ideas Award 2014 for promoting e-Government at the UAE Ideas Conference organised by Dubai Quality Group at The Palace Downtown hotel. The ceremony was attended by DEWA officials and representatives from public and private organisations based in the UAE.
A team from DEWAs Generation division won the award for its One-Way Data Device that was custom-designed for DEWA. The device ensures safe transmission of data from power stations to a shared platform. This builds a knowledge base for decision-makers, enabling them to access data through smart devices.
Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation at DEWA praised the winning team members and commended their efforts to enhance the operational and industry competitiveness of DEWA. Lootah presented the award to HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
We are proud of this award, which reflects our committed efforts to promote innovation and creativity as an established approach across all of our work. DEWAs strategy is to encourage staff to innovate and to continuously develop and improve their work. We implement their creative ideas, which in turn improve organisational performance and enhance DEWAs excellence. This supports our development and motivational strategy to disseminate and spread a culture that encourages staff to voice their opinions, and present creative ideas to further enhance all-round efficiency, said Al Tayer.
At DEWA, we encourage the creativity of our staff by providing a positive and stimulating working environment. We organise various training programmes that contribute to enhancing the knowledge and creative capabilities of our staff. We also provide incentives and awards throughout the year to enhance positive competitiveness among staff, said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
The team members who were honoured for developing the One-Way Data Device included Nasser Lootah, Tayeb Al-Khaja, Vice President of Plant 2, Mohammed Zulfiquer, Senior Manager of Instrument & Control (Plant2), Khaled Kuley, Deputy Manager of Instrument & Control Maintenance, (Plant2), Mohammed Islam, Senior Engineer - Instrument & Control (Plant1), and Mohammed Faisal, Senior Technical Assistant.
